On October 5, 2017, the Pocahontas County Chamber of Commerce and Board of Education After School Program hosted a Career Day and Job Fair at Pocahontas County High School. Local businesses, law enforcement, government officials, military and college representatives provided a plethora of information allowing students to explore possibilities for their future.
Those participating in the event included: The Snowshoe Foundation, Ralph H. Burns & Sons, New River Community and Technical College, University of Charleston, One Room University, Family Resource Network (FRN), WV National Guard, First Citizens Bank, Pocahontas County Magistrate Court, Mind Ease Solutions, U S Army, Allegheny Disposal and Jen Transport, CVB (Convention and Visitor’s Bureau), Davis and Elkins College, Division of Rehabilitation Services, Pocahontas County Sheriff Department, Pocahontas Memorial Hospital, Emergency Medical Services, The Town of Marlinton, Pocahontas County Prevention Coalition, Allegheny Mountain Radio, U S Marines, Community Connections, West Virginia University Extension Service, High Rocks Academy, Watoga State Park, Youth Health Services, Connections thru Ross, DNR Law Enforcement, and the Marlinton/White Sulphur Ranger Station.
A delicious lunch was prepared and served by the PCHS Pro-Start students under the supervision of faculty member, Teresa Mullen.
This event was coordinated by the Pocahontas County Chamber of Commerce, PCHS High School, and the Board of education After School Program.
