The history begins in 1958 when Wendell M. Cramer began working at the Benson Sawmill in Pickens, WV. Subsequently, he joined the hardwood sales staff of the Georgia Pacific Corporation where he worked five years before founding the W.M. Cramer Lumber Co. as a wholesale operation in Augusta, GA. In 1971, after five years as a wholesaler, Wendell established a lumber concentration yard in Hildebran, NC. The company grew adding a sawmill in WV, company trucks, kilns, planers, ripsaws and an export division.
