On October 18, 2018, the Pocahontas County Chamber of Commerce hosted a Career Day and Job Fair at Pocahontas County High School. Local businesses, law enforcement, government officials, military and college representatives provided an abundance of information allowing students to explore possibilities for their future.
Those participating in the event included: Snowshoe Mountain Inc., Ralph H. Burns, New River Community and Technical College, Dabney Lancaster College, One Room University, First Citizens Bank, Pendleton Community Bank, MindEase Solutions, U S Army, Allegheny Enterprises, CVB (Convention and Visitor’s Bureau), Davis and Elkins College, Division of Rehabilitation Services, Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Department, Pocahontas Memorial Hospital, The Town of Marlinton, Pocahontas County Prevention Coalition, Allegheny Mountain Radio, Denmar Correctional Facility, West Virginia University Extension Service, High Rocks Educational Academy, Watoga State Park, Youth Health Services, DNR Law Enforcement, Marlinton/White Sulphur Ranger Station, Bartow Ranger Station, West Virginia Wesleyan College, West Virginia Institute of Technology, Green Bank Observatory, Good Life Financial, LLC, Community Care, Burns Motor Freight and Marlinton Fire & Rescue.
In addition, Courtney Smith, representing the Greater Greenbrier Valley Foundation, provided educational workshops to juniors and seniors with emphasis on available student scholarships.
A delicious lunch was prepared and served by the PCHS Pro-Start students under the supervision of faculty member, Teresa Mullen.
This event was coordinated by the Pocahontas County Chamber of Commerce, and PCHS High School.
